This is a new site to document my dealings with lego ev3 models
I purchased the 31313 set just before Christmas 2013 and have been getting to grips with building models from the set. Previously I have used the Lego NXT2 sets for several years, and it has been interesting to see the improvements that the new system brings. The mix of component parts is rather different. Previously I have been interested in colour sorting robots and have published several designs on my website http://r.newman/.ch/lego It remains to be seen how easy it will be to do the same sort of thing with this new set.
To kick off I have looked at the supplied 5 models and the bonus set of models, and have built several of them. One that caught my eye was the the M3-B3AM which measures the length and colour of lego beams. I have modified this with the addition of an infrared sensor to detect when a new beam is inserted, and also added further sound output to the model. The results are detailed here
